The original battery box we had for 6 volt golf cart batteries only had a internal dimension of 9-1/4 inches so it would not fit your battery, like you said. The Commercial Grade Battery Box for Dual 8D Batteries # 329-HM485 is designed to be placed on a solid surface so it doesn't have any grooves on the top or bottom to "fix" it together for stacking with another one. Group 27 batteries are typically 12" L x 7" W x 9" T so I'm assuming your 14" x 14" measurement is just the two batteries butted up against each other.
